Firehouse has an oldies session
April 9th 2007 08:13
The title says it all and I'm excited. They've been talking about it for some time and I know the Firehouse boys have the records, so it is good they are finally doing a dance of early Jamaican sounds. Sounds of a young Jamaica, as it says on the flier, hopefully refers to an independent Jamaica, meaning we will see some ska, rocksteady and early reggae.
The addition of Chris from 2RRR's Laweless Street also adds to the credibility of this event. Years of doing dancehall events is fine, but in my opinion, the good times come when the sixties sounds are the focus.
The venue for this event is Spectrum and the date is Sunday April 29th. It is part of the weekly Sunday do at Spectrum, Freedom Sounds. $7 gets you in this time around.
