Secret Melbourne Ska Orchestra gig this Friday
March 20th 2007 01:41
I say secret, but unadvertised is probably a better way to put it.
What I am told is that, as part of the World Swimming Championships, the Melbourne Ska Orchestra will be playing a free gig at Federation Square (Melbourne) on Friday evening.
I can't say what form the band will take, though I assume it will be the usual 20-30 piece horn section with various singers.
Previous performances by the MSO have been greeted extremely well by punters. I've seen them twice myself and recommend any Melbourne folk get down there to see them. It is something very different to hear your favourite ska and reggae tracks with a wall of sound and exceptional musicianship.
Wish I was going myself, but lack of advertising has meant there is no way of organising something in time. I just hope there aren't too many Melbourne folk who miss it because it has been kept quiet.
