Stop Press - The Rocksteady Ratpack announced for Mods Mayday
April 11th 2007 07:18
We didn't do Mods Mayday last year, but we're bringing it back this year, mainly because so many people have hassled us about it. Anyway, it is on and the good news is it will be free. I think in 2005 it was 30 bucks to get in, but this year, we won't be charging a penny.
The venue is the RSL @ Newtown, on the lower end of Enmore Rd. The date is Saturday May 5th 2007 and it will start about 830 pm.
The format will be 2 bands and 4 DJs this time around. I'm excited to say the headline band will be a brand new all-star act called The Rocksteady Ratpack. This will comprise members of bands such as Club Ska, The Allniters, Backy Skank and The Signals. It will be fronted by great session jazz singer Pat Powell, who used to be in Club Ska and the band will be playing some Jamaican favourites. For many this will be a trip down memory lane, but it will also be a chance to see some really talented musos playing some great Jamaican hits.
More news on the other band and DJs to come, but for now, mark the date in your diary!
