Excitingly for some of us and following up from the release of the new Pama International album on Trojan Records comes a 7” release on the same label. The first contemporary band to be on the label for years, Pama International will on September 4th have in their catalogue a single with Neither High Nor Dry (featuring Dennis Alcapone) and It Ain't Funny (featuring Dave & Ansel Collins).
Sydney band Rastawookie will be playing @Newtown this Saturday August 5th. This popular reggae band have gone from strength to strength playing huge shows as supports to other major acts, headlined other big shows and been part of many local ska and reggae shows for the last few years.
A week after the Rastawookie show is Firehouse, the longest running reggae sound system in Sydney. They will be at the Marquee, playing boss reggae and dancehall tunes for your listening pleasure.
Sydney band The Signals will be back after a long spell on August 26th @ the Empire of Annandale. They join Backy Skank who have also been on a break and Steppin’ Razor, Kampei and Randell Blair and the Wedded Bliss for a huge night of sounds.
For those in Hollywood, USA get along to the second Ska and Reggae Festival on August 27th at The Fonda Theatre playing host to Ken Boothe, U-Roy, Leroy Sibbles, The Ethiopian Leonard Dillon, Stranger Cole, MC Junor Francis. You don’t get much bigger than that lineup!
