Reggae Sun Ska in France

I can’t speak French so I am not getting much out of the official website for the festival of Reggae Sun France. I can make out however that it is this weekend in France – that being August 4th and 5th. The Trojan Records says it is in “the village of Cissac Medoc in the South-West of France.” So I guess that is!

The other thing I can make out is the fantastic lineup for this two day event. The performers for the two days include names from all around the world and number 20 (or thereabouts). France has a very strong reggae scene so I can assume there will be a great turnout. There is a camping area so a party atmosphere is pretty much guaranteed too.

The lineup includes some very decent French acts including Falfa and Natty Bass, but perhaps more significantly huge international acts such as the German Deeyay Gentleman, Jamaica’s Israel Vibration and Anthony B and Patrice (also from Germany).

I’d like to say more about this event, but the French are one of the few nations that don’t turn to English on the Internet (which I think is something to be applauded – hold on to your languages non-English speaking countries!) so I am just going to say, how many great ska and reggae events do they have in Europe!

For some reason, the French have really taken to reggae... I think it's the mediterranean feel and lifestyle...

Is it that or is it just a part of the wider popularity of reggae in Europe?
