West Indies win their first match against Pakistan

Not reggae as such, but the area of the world where reggae began is the focus for today's blog. As a big cricket fan, I am pretty excited about the cricket world cup, which began today with the West Indies, on home soil, taking on Pakistan.
Despite a dismal performance in warm up matches, the West Indies beat Pakistan quite convincingly from all reports, who fell 54 runs short of the West Indies total. Pakistan were down two key bowlers (in dubious circumstances), but match reports pay more attention to the good performances of the West Indies, particularly Dwayne Smith, Dwayne Bravo and Marlon Samuels.
The win is not only a good thing for the West Indies, but a good thing for cricket. Having the home side winning will add to the entire atmosphere of the world cup. Also, with many younger West Indians taking to soccer and basketball, interest in cricket can only help foster new young talent, and when the West Indies are in good shape, there is an added flavour in the cricket world.
